Great Ways To Wear This Summer’s Whites

   Now that Memorial Day has passed, and the coast has cleared for you to pull out your summer whites, you’re probably in your closet doing just that. But, before you do, hold on! Although I acknowledge it is VERY tempting to put on something you’ve been familiar with for so long, I think you owe it to yourself to double-check that your white thing (dress, pants, shirt, whatever) still does 100% do you justice. And, to help you ensure that it does, here is what I suggest:

   1. Keep it fitted not tight. Anything fitted will always complement your figure because it follows the natural line of your body working to give your figure shape. Anything tight on the other hand, has the tendency to highlight bits and pieces here and there, thus not so much highlighting your shape as highlighting bits and pieces you wouldn’t necessarily want seen.

   2. Accessorize the white with bright. Anything white is best thought of as a canvas. By itself, it’s plain and simple. But, as soon as you  add some bright accessories to it, you liven it up, give it some flavor, and just generate curiosity.

   3. Break it up with color. Again, this comes back to point 2. By itself, white has the tendency to be plain. And not only that, but if there are no color lines to break up the outfit, your body shape may just get lost in all the whiteness. For example, it may become unclear where your hips begin because your whole outfit is continuously white. Thus, especially when wearing a white suit, keep in mind a different colored shirt because you still do want to flatter your figure.

   4. Pair with shoes other than white. Never make the mistake of pairing a white outfit with white shoes (unless it is your wedding day – but even then I prefer silver sandals over white ones). To help explain why, consider a white blob. All done?! Well, that’s what you’d look like. I don’t think I need to explain further.

And finally,

   5. Enjoy the white. After all, when else will the color be in season?! And BTW, did I forget to mention it is definitely in season this summer?! Everyone from Cynthia Steffe, Emilio Pucci, Versace, to Loewe, Chloe, and Temperley London have incorporated white in one form or another into their Spring / Summer 2011 RTW collections. Just see the photo featured above.

Relaxing in the sun, hanging out with family and friends, enjoying sales at all my favorite stores, and just having a great kickstart to another summer, all make today’s Memorial Day one of the coolest fun-packed days of the year.

However, despite Memorial Day becoming synonymous, to so many of us, with the beginning of summer - or ‘The Hamptons Summer’ here in The Hamptons, let’s not forget its beginnings. It is a day of remembrance. A day to remember our loved ones, our friends, our neighbours, and to commemorate all those in the military who have made the ultimate sacrifice in order for us to live in a better nation.

Thus, I’d just like to take a minute to say, my thoughts go out to you (all our great men) today -

Savannah's Graduation!!!!

Friday night was awesome!!!

We had beautiful weather & an absolutely perfect graduation service for Savannah.

I didn't cry.

I am so darn proud of her that the night was just full of smiles

I moved to this community after Gregg passed away

knowing it was known for it's fantastic schools.

Parkview High has been an exceptional school

& provided Savannah with an excellent education.

She will leave here completely prepared for life at University of Georgia.

I'm going to do this here,

so please forgive the obnoxious mom moment

but

i think the numbers are correct...i'll check with her when she comes home.

She graduated with honors

ranked 30th in her class of almost 600.

top 5%.

she is was in Beta Club

& Mu Alpha Theta

and an Honors Graduate.

She was invited into the Honors Program at UGA.

i am beyond proud of you sweet girl!

i have encouraged each of my girls to hold off on the boyfriend thing

at least until jr/sr year.

i didn't need to push that one with savannah

as she's a pretty tough sell.

she started dating Trevor a year ago

& i'm convinced he's the greatest guy in that school.

the night he picked her up for their first prom

& i saw how respectful and sweet he was to her....

& how he looked at her

i knew she held out for a great guy!

we love you Trevor & know you'll do great things at UGA

even if it's not UT!

From time to time, all of us flip through magazines, watch E!, and stare at billboards of our fav’ celebs just to catch ourselves thinking, where did SHE get that? Right! Thankfully, places specializing in just that exist. And I’m not referring to blogs here. Sure, blogs are a great source of info on who’s wearing what and where to buy - but, if you’re  looking for a one-stop shop for all things celeb, the best places I’d recommend online are the following:

My weekends have been feeling busier than ever so I took a second to go to the beach so my life can stand still for a moment with the sand beneath my toes. I'll miss having this just minutes away from my home when I move to New York City (yes, that's my big announcement). I am feeling so many emotions that I have become numb to the whole moving process. I'm lucky to have the support of everyone and that's the thing that keeps me moving.

so, as i promised, i made a post about our class trip to lovely Helsinki♥

i really don't know where to start from.. we had so much fun there.

all i can say is:

anyway, on wednesday 25th we left at 5:45 am by Intercity-train and it took EIGHT hours to get there.. well, we played card games etc. and had fun still.

we arrived to Helsinki about at 1:50 pm, got our tram tickets and headed to our hotel Scandic Continental which was close to the city center. then we had free time until 6 pm and we went shopping ofc :D at 6 pm the whole class went to megazone! (if you don't know what it is, check out here) i had never tried it before and it was amazing.

next morning we went to the house of parliament (Eduskuntatalo). it was really interesting actually!

after that we headed to Kiasma to see some art. that was quite interesting as well, tho i was almost too tired to even stand x__x

then we went to see Helsinki's Tuomiokirkko

 we sat on the stairs and watched at the Senaatintori and then wind was crazy . . .

btw the church was so pretty! and huge :D

then.. shopping!

 oh gosh i was so happy to eat Ben&Jerry's ! we don't have Ben&Jerry's bars in Oulu.. only straight from a freezer from a few stores T_T
