Burberry’s Lip Mist Is As Light As Mist Itself

As my last post was all about Burberry’s spokesmodel, Emma Watson, I figured time called for the latest news from the brand itself. So here it is. Earlier this month, Burberry launched its line of Lip Mist lipsticks. Made available in nine colours, Burberry’s natural sheer lipsticks promise to give lips a very natural colour with their sheer texture while still keeping lips shiny and well hydrated for the summer season. A great sounding product, right?! But hold on, does it really work?

A major problem with lipsticks that so often makes them second place to lip gloss in the warmer months particularly is that they simply don’t provide the necessary amount of moisture you require. Or if they do, they let you down by quickly smudging, cracking, and simply drying out. Now, not sure if it was surprisingly, but after trying out a sample that I managed to get my hands on at Nordstrom, I found Burberry’s Lip Mist lipstick to be quite the opposite. As soon as I applied it, my lips felt different - definitely more hydrated and conditioned than usual after lipstick; deserving a thumbs up for that alone. And that wasn’t the only thing to praise. As far as consistency goes, it was great. Burberry Lip Mist’s creamy texture allowed for a truly effortless application. Using a lip brush, the lipstick glad over my lips as easily as lip gloss usually does. In fact, it was so magnificently creamy, as per Burberry’s recommendations, you could go ahead and apply it with your finger if you wanted. And third, despite being advertised as natural, in my eyes, the lipstick performed just as well as others do on the color scale. As easily as it gave my lips a natural look, it could be build up to create some serious color.

Below are the colours I tested. From left to right, you have Burberry’s Lip Mist in Copper no.209, Blueberry no.206, Rosy Red no.205, and Feather Pink no.209. My personal favorite would be Feather Pink, just because it was very pinkish – and the shade I would usually go for for my lips.

And BTW, you can easily get your hands on some of these samples yourself. At department stores like Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus especially, samples of new products are given out on a frequent basis. A couple of weeks ago, for example, I grabbed myself a sample of Marc Jacobs Daisy fragrance from Nordstrom that provided me with a great opportunity to test out the product prior to making the decision to purchase it. And, in the case that free samples aren’t given out, I always say don’t ever be afraid to just go up and ask for them at the beauty counters yourself. A lot of the time they do have testers of creams, makeup removers, fragrances etc. that they won’t just hand out unless you ask. So, ASK! It’s always better to try before you buy.
