It’s summer, and if you’re still feeling a tad bit awkward over transitioning into a dress, the same I learned, does need not apply for a pair of sandals. Walking in the city, open toe pumps and sandals were everywhere these last couple of weeks. Even on those chillier days, as long as a ray of sunshine was visible, sandals were the obvious go-to choice. And no wonder - considering the ridiculously long winter we’ve had here in New York.
But that fact aside, now that the green light for sandals has finally been turned on again, a few great new styles that make for definite must-do additions to this summer’s wardrobe have to be chunks and buckles. As we’ve learned from Spring / Summer 2011 Runways, sandals with a chunkier heel and/or buckle are this season’s statement pieces used to accessorize the otherwise minimalistic trends of blocks of color and whatnot. As such, if you are thinking of splurging on anything, it should be on a new pair of sandals! But don’t worry, you don’t need to go too much out of your way because I’ve compiled a few great suggestions below.
Pictured above clockwise Jessica Simpson Kooza Strappy Platform Sandal ($89), Nine West Adalaina Slingback Sandal in Brown/Multi Natural ($99), Levity Tory Sandal ($69.95), Aldo Diane Platform Sandal ($80), Nine West Altan Slingback Sandal in Natural/Dark Brown Fabric ($89), BCBG Paris Mochie Sandal ($69.95), Tinley Road Donata Sandal in Vintage Olive ($48), Vince Camuto Catey Beach Sandal (79.99), Aldo Catalan Platform Sandal in Bone ($80).
As always, the first places you should head to find the season’s hottest styles at affordable prices are Nine West and Aldo. Not only do they offer a huge selection of all the latest styles, but they do so at unbeatable prices. Also, I suggest you go to all the major department stores such as Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdales, Kohl’s, etc., because in addition to affordability and range, a lot of the time you can find just-arrived styles as much as 30% off. Not kidding! And finally, don’t forget that stores have been placed online for a reason. Sites like Endless.com, Zappos.com, and Piperlime.com, not only have the largest selections of shoes you’d ever find anywhere, but in addition to sales, they offer buyers the opportunity to save even further through promo coupons and cash-back that can easily be acquired via sites such as Ebates.com. Great - isn’t it?!
