With ten pages all to herself in Marie Claire’s upcoming 2011 July Issue, Dakota Fanning’s little sister, Elle Fanning, lets her passion for clothes speak out. In her interview, Elle is very frank, telling Marie Claire that “the best part of [her] day is picking out [her] outfit”. And even though she is only thirteen, this young star shows that she definitely knows what to pick. For her photo shoot, Elle wears clothes in pastel shades, with plenty of shimmer, glitter, and texture. Apart from a bracelet or two in a couple of the photographs, Elle’s only other accessories are gloves, fishnet tights, tulle and chunky heels – all making the vintage inspiration behind photographs of her very clear.

And to convince us that she knows her vintage, Elle Fanning draws on French model, actress and singer, Brigitte Bardot for inspiration. If you are surprised, don’t be. In her interview, Elle admits that she “knows all of the models”. And considering that Brigitte Bardot was the biggest name in film and fashion of the fifties-sixties, it was almost natural that Elle Fanning would channel her for Marie Claire’s pictorial to show her love for the era.
